100% Effective Changeovers – Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED)

As part of any Lean deployment, reduction in inventory program or attempt to become more efficient in manufacturing requires the ability to change from producing one part to another as quickly as possible.  Traditional manufacturing companies manufacture in large batches, as they believe that changeovers cost money as they take a long time, need specialist resources and mean loss of production.  Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) is designed to enable changeovers to be done in a few minutes.  This course is designed to assist companies make there changeovers 100% effective, that is to say quick, easy and linked to your strategy for improvement.  The course will demonstrate why reduced changeovers are essential, what it would mean to your company, and of course how to implement quick changeovers.   Although designed for manufacturing companies, it can also be applied to non-manufacturing areas.  If you wish to concentrate on non-manufacturing changeovers then the course can be delivered with this focus.
